Asterophora parasitica (Bull. ex Fr.) Sing. syn. Nyctalis parasitica (Bull. ex Fr.) Fr. Parasitischer Zwitterling Nyctalis parasite Silky Piggyback Cap 0.5–1.5cm, convex to bell-shaped at first then expanded, white with greyish-lilac tinge, silky and very thin. Stem 10–30 x 1–3mm, often twisted, white often flushed brownish or lilaceous. Flesh thin, brown. Chlamydospores formed on the gills rather than the cap as in A. lycoperdoides, pale brown, thick-walled, ovate and smooth, 15´10m. Basidiospores white, broadly ovate, 5–5.5 x 3–4µ. Habitat on old specimens of several species of Russula and certain Lactarius. Season summer to early winter. Occasional. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.
